Origin
Our flavor can have many destinations, but only one origin: Oaxaca, Mexico
In each bottle of Mezcal 33 is the soul of Oaxaca, represented by its agaves, its culture and its people.
In the Central Valleys of this magical land, San Dionisio Ocatepec is located, a place steeped in ancestral traditions and a unique ecosystem. Here, agaves selected for their exceptional flavor and aroma are intertwined with the mezcalero legacy that has been passed down from generation to generation.
We collaborate closely with the families of this region, preserving their knowledge and ancestral techniques that make up an invaluable cultural heritage. From the harvest of the agave to the artisan distillation, each step of the process is carried out with dedication and respect, honoring the history and essence of this wonderful land.
Surface
The climate, soils and geographical conditions of Oaxaca are ideal for the optimal growth of the agave, as well as for making a rich mezcalera tradition flourish.
Having our roots in this land allows us to honor our origin with character, the passion for our work and share with the world the magic of this region, translated into the meaning of our 33.
Soil Type
The type of soil in Oaxaca plays a fundamental role in the production of our mezcal. The region of El Camarón, Oaxaca, is especially noted for its rich and diverse soil. Thus, allowing our agaves to be stressed in a controlled manner, which in turn stimulates the generation of high-quality sugars in the plants.
This natural process enriches the flavor and complexity of our mezcal, giving it a subtle and unique character. This characteristic, combined with the experience of our Mezcalero Master, contributes to the creation of an excellent product that reflects the richness of this magical land.
Variety Planted
In 1753, the scientist Carlos Linneo cataloged the maguey plant of this land as “Agave”, which means “admirable”. And is not for less. With at least 8 years of maturation, the Agave Angustifolia Haw, better known as “Espadín”, develops optimal flavors and sugars to create a smooth and pure mezcal.
This is the type of agave carefully selected to produce Mezcal 33. Our piñas, which meet a minimum of 33 Bricks degrees, guarantee unmatched quality in our final product.
And as it should be, the way we grow and harvest these agaves follows principles of sustainability and respect for traditions. Because taking care of the land where we produce is also respecting all mezcal lovers.

Our Master Mezcalero
Transforming the agave into Mezcal 33
Introducing the Mezcalero Master of Mezcal 33: Otoniel Pensamiento
Born on September 2, 1998 in Tlacolula, Oaxaca, Otoniel is the fourth generation of a family passionately dedicated to the production of mezcal. His grandfather, Gustavo Pensamiento, was a visionary in this ancient tradition, a pioneer in the creation of various mezcals and the famous mezcal creams. Guided by Gustavo’s only daughter, Guadalupe Pensamiento, Otoniel was chosen to continue the legacy of making this unique elixir.
From an early age, Otoniel immersed himself in the world of mezcal, collaborating at the local fair and acquiring a deep knowledge of the artisan process. At the age of 19, he decided to follow his passion and dedicated himself to becoming a Maestro Mezcalero. With dedication and formal learning, in 2021 he obtained his first certified production, thus officially marking his title of Master Mezcalero.
Today, Otoniel and his wife work together in the production of Mezcal 33, keeping the family tradition alive. Otoniel is proud to continue the legacy left by his grandfather and is willing to pass on his knowledge to future generations. His dream is that his son, if he wishes, can carry on the inheritance of mezcal production.
Otoniel finds joy in seeing how people enthusiastically enjoy and accept the unique flavor of Mezcal 33, a product that carries with it the passion, legacy and magic of his family.
